Gira Giersiepen GmbH & Co. KG – OBO products in the new production centre

It has taken two and a half years since the foundation stone was laid – and it has been worth it! At the end of November 2018, the first products left the new production centre of Gira Giersiepen GmbH & Co. KG in Radevormwald. 550 of the roughly 1,800 members of the Gira staff will work in the new production centre, which has an area of 30,000 square metres. The building serves as a production, development and logistics centre in the industrial area of Radevormwald in the Bergisches Land in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Why did the customer choose OBO products?

OBO Bettermann was also involved in the construction work with its products from the underfloor systems, surge protection and cable support systems units. The long-term, cooperative business relationship between OBO and Gira, coupled with OBO's comprehensive product range, made the decision to use OBO products an easy one. That is why they can be found in many locations in the new building.

For example, from the cable support systems unit, the client selected the RKS-Magic 60 FS cable tray. With its integrated quick fastening system, it possesses continuous side perforation and thus allows simple installation of additional connection and mounting components.

What type of challenges occurred during construction?

In addition, the WKSG 110 FS wide span cable tray was installed, which, as a perforated system, can offer a lot of flexibility. It was exactly this – the greatest possible flexibility – which was one of the high requirements important to Gira: The company wanted to guarantee a function-independent extension of capacities in the location, which can be expanded in the long-term and as required to a gross floor area of up to 50,000 square metres.

Thus Gira can increase productivity in the Radevormwald location through shorter distances, intelligent procedures and improved process efficiency.
