Surge protection for CCTV data cable for CAT6A/PoE++ high-speed networks
With the NetDefender, OBO presents data cable protection devices for CAT6A high-speed networks that are suitable for outdoor use (IP66). The NetDefender combines gross protection (D1), middle protection (C2) and fine protection (C1). They are tested in accordance with IEC 61643-21 and the extremely robust aluminium housing has protection class IP66 as well as an additional shielding effect. The NetDefenders are available as a variant with RJ45 STP or LSA+ connection option on the entrance side and as RJ45 STP on the outgoing side. They support Power over Ethernet ++ (PoE++ / 4PPoE) up to 1 A in accordance with IEEE 802.3 and have a certified transmission quality in networks up to 10 Gbit/s (class EA) or CAT6A.

Lightning and surge protection for camera surveillance systems (CCTV)
The NetDefender is one of several OBO solutions for protecting CCTV systems. These camera systems are used to monitor rooms, buildings, and public spaces in order to record unauthorized access or criminal activity. It is therefore particularly important to ensure the high availability of camera surveillance systems at all times.
Security through protected availability
The camera systems used for video surveillance are usually CCTV systems (closed circuit television systems). Unlike general camera systems, the recordings are only intended for a limited group of users.
CCTV camera systems are often installed outside buildings or on objects and are therefore exposed to external influences and adverse weather conditions. During a thunderstorm, the devices can be completely destroyed by a direct lightning strike or damaged by a distant lightning strike. The latter occurs when electromagnetic waves are released and induce surges in the transmission lines. The OBO NetDefender reliably prevents this and protects the camera system from surge damage.
