In the electrical industry, OBO Bettermann is considered one of the most innovative companies. The best-known inventions are the OBO-Dbel (OBO anchor) with the "Ohne BOhren" (without drilling) principle and the revolutionary Magic cable tray systems.

The spirit of invention, high demand for quality and product knowledge have been an integral part of OBO since its foundation in 1911. The oldest still-active OBO brand, DOL, offers robust, reliable branch terminals. Between five and ten per cent of the overall group turnover flows into the research and development of new products. Every two years, at the key leading trade fair of our industry, Light+Building, we present 60 to 70 innovations, resulting in an average of approx. 2500 new article numbers.

To develop our high standard further and adapt to developments on the marketplace, 16 OBO employees participate intensively in national and international standardisation committees. Ulrich Bettermann has been a permanent member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) since 1983. Over the course of three decades, he has not missed a single WEF in Davos.

The topics of the last 30 years have been many and varied. Whether during historic negotiations after the fall of the Berlin Wall or the economic and financial crisis of the last years Ulrich Bettermann has always shown his commitment and passion. Although the head of a family-run, medium-sized company, Ulrich Bettermann always feels quite at home in Davos with the CEOs of numerous stock corporations. In an interview with Swiss TV, he said: "We can withstand a difficult period better and think in social terms in the long term." In many corporations, the staff change on a regular basis. "But medium-sized companies like us are still there." Besides his passion for the summit meeting in the mountains, the OBO managing director still remains down to earth. He knows that, even with discussions with the heads of major companies, hard work is required on the marketplace. For this reason, he knows each of his 30,000 products like no other.
